A Clockwork Orange Book Cover - Texture Experiment

It was mentioned in a crit a while back that I should try using a textured background to try and make it look less plain. I did this by screwing up a piece of paper, scanning it and altering the colour.

I felt it was far to dark and really hindered the readability of the text. I also didn't like how it clashed with the concept of having aggressive text on a plain background - this was meant to show the violence in the behaviour of Alex and his gang against generic society.

Reducing the obviousness of the crumples made the text readable again and still left the background fairly plain. Leaving the crumples slightly noticeable does give the cover a much angrier tone though, so I wanted to keep them in.
