Creative Bloq posted about the Premier Leagues re-brand for next season this morning (here) and also covered designers reactions to it (here) - concluding that it had generally gone down well with designers.
However, joe.co.uk also posted about it (here) and the response from football fans as a whole was much more negative, with many people (including myself) disliking it and thinking it was more suited to something like an insurance company.
The images released show it on various brightly coloured background to show its versatility and how easy it is to apply to various backgrounds in a 2 colour scenario, so it's clear that the direction the Premier League want to go with their branding is simplicity and modern flat design. This is something we'll need to consider in our programme covers so the logo won't look out of place and to make sure that our proposals fit with the Premier Leagues new look.
However, when it's shown in certain contexts it looks very bland and lacks the character the previous logo had, this is something we'll need to try and avoid.
