Euro 2016 Illustrative Posters - Flyer/Map Development

The back of the flyer is going to fit the same grid as the front in order to add an element of continuity, the text at the top will stay in the same place to further aid this. Without the rest of the content on the page the grid looks like this.

The illustration will be shrunk down to the bottom right corner, leaving the area where the pattern was un-obscured - this allows the map to be as big and as clear as possible. Below the map will be a key explaining what types of roads the different colours represent. The remaining space can be used for copy that gives information about the nearest train station or bus route etc. If there's any space left over it can also be used to list the dates and times fixtures are being played in that particular stadium.

Using Google maps as a template I recreated the area around the Stade De France (the French national teams stadium) on Illustrator, this allowed me to simplify the map so it somewhat matches the aesthetic of Joe's illustrations and the background pattern we developed.

It's going to be used on a flyer which will mean it'll be printed fairly small, for this reason I chose not to put much text on the map, only to show large recognisable areas in order to give the map a bearing.

Using the colours from the background patterns in the map further increases the similarities between the front and back of the flyer. There will be some sort of key below the map explaining what each colour represents.
